I think a little black dress is probably the easiest outfit to put together. However, there are some ways to accessorize your LBD and make it feel new this holiday season. I’ve picked one basic LBD and put together outfits using that dress to give you some ideas of how you can change up the look from party to party. The dress is from Topshop for $100 and its shape is very flattering.

One option is actually provided by Topshop. They suggest ankle boots and a leather jacket with this dress. Taylor Swift embraced the leather jacket and LBD look at a Kings of Leon concert. I found this fun pair of ankle boots from Alloy for $46.90. It’s definitely difficult to find a leather jacket for under $100. This Silence & Noise one is reasonably priced at $128.

Another option is to bring some color into the outfit. Gabrielle Union did this with bright yellow accessories. I like this turquoise belt from Asos for $41.64. Finish off the look with this clutch from Aldo for $40.

Or channel the ’50s feel of this dress with a cardigan and peep toe heels. I found this floral cardigan from Topshop for $50. It would go great with these green heels from Endless for $59.95.

Western boots are a fun way to spice up an outfit. Taylor Swift, Ashely Tisdale, Jessica Simpson, Rachel Bilson, Lindsay Lohan and Selena Gomez have all gone west with their style.

This style may appear to lack versatility, but the exact opposite is true. Tall or short, western boots can be paired with jeans, leggings, skirts, shorts or dresses. I found three pairs of western boots for under $100. I also found two articles of clothing to wear with each pair of boots.

Rocket Dog’s Sheriff Distressed Cowboy Boot is on sale at DSW for $49.95. It is shown below in cognac and is also available in brown and black. One option is to wear these with a floral chiffon dress like this one from Delia’s for $44.50. Take a tip from the model and add the Mindy Double Buckle Belt, also from Delia’s, for $34.50.

Try a black pair like the one from Two Lips on sale for $71.08. Wear them with a pair of skinny jeans and a flannel tunic. I like this distressed pair of jeans from Macy’s for $39.99. American Eagle has a lot of their flannel shirts on sale, including the one shown below for $24.95.

Endless has a higher boot for $79.95 in bone leather and brown. The bone leather pair below would look great with this cute queen card tee for $16.90 and blue hoodie from Express for $49.50.

Loose, baggy, eighties style pants have made a comeback and don’t appear to be going away just yet. They have been seen on stars like Sienna Miller, Diane Kruger and Rihanna. But how do you wear this style without looking like MC Hammer? When in doubt, copy the model! I’ve found a few pairs of harem pants, one for under $80 and two for under $30! Although the pair from Free People is more expensive, it has added benefit. It is convertible so you can wear it as a jumpsuit or pants! If you don’t to spend that much on this trend, try the pair from Victoria’s Secret available in 8 colors, including the black shown below, and on sale for $29.50. Another option is from Dillards on sale for $26.50 shown here in navy and also available black.

To copy the Free People model’s look, you could buy the sweater she is wearing from Free People ($98). But I found it at Nordstrom in medium on sale for $45.90. Wear this with a chain necklace, like the one from Nordstrom for $48, and a pair of black strappy shoes on sale at Bebe from $59.99.

The Victoria’s Secret model is wearing a vest that they sell, but it is sold out. For an alternative, try this vest from Delia’s on sale for $39.50. Pair that with a long sleeved tee, also from Victoria’s Secret, on sale for $22.50. For shoes, I like this inexpensive ($29.99) pair of peep toe heels from Tillys.

Choose a long sleeved tee that goes with the hat you choose to wear. I like this fedora from Roxy because it has a bunch of colors to match with it and its on sale for $12.99! Wear a multi strand necklace like this Betsey Johnson piece for $48. For heels, I like these from Zappos on sale for $69.20.

Celebrities have been wearing tulip skirts for a while now and they will continue to be popular through fall. They have been seen most recently on Lo Bosworth, Diane Kruger and Isla Fisher. This style is very flattering for those with wide hips or a larger mid-section. The best tops to wear with this style are form fitting and tucked in or cropped. It is best to wear these with heels or flats depending on how casual the skirt is. To make them cold-weather friendly, you can pair them with tights. I’ve found a few tulip skirt options for under $60.

Topshop sells a classy pelmet skirt with a tulip shape for $55. American Apparel sells a micro-fiber tulip skirt in 8 different colors, including the burgundy shown below. Or go bold with Scottish plaid sold at Forever 21 for only $14.80!

Try a loose shirt tucked in with Topshop’s skirt a la Maria Sharapova. I’d wear this purple t-shirt from Victoria’s Secret ($26 each or 2/$40). The side ties will make it easer to tuck in. I’d wear these bright yellow platform pumps from Pink Duchess on sale for $34.95. To tie the look together, you can add some colorful jewelry or a printed scarf like this one from Rumor for $32.

Jessica Stroup and Rachel Bilson have gone with cropped jackets. I like the one below to go with American Apparel’s burgundy skirt. It’s at Free People and at a huge discount ($49.95 from $148)! I’d wear shoes with some hardware. Try these studded flats on sale at Tilly’s for $16.99 or the heels from Fergie on sale for $54.97.

Lauren Conrad and Nicole Richie have chosen a form fitting white shirt with their tulip skirts. Tuck one into Forever 21’s plaid tulip skirt (Express $19.50). You could wear flats or heels with this. For flats, I like these cute red ones by Blowfish on sale at DSW for $39.95. Or these platforms from N.Y.L.A. sold at DSW for a sale price of $89.95 would be awesome with this outfit!

Bib necklaces became popular earlier this year. But it seems that this trend will continue into the fall. These types of necklaces are definitely statement pieces, which can sometimes be challenging when figuring out what to wear with them. Whenever you wear a statement piece, you want to avoid combining that with other statement pieces because it may end up looking costume-ish. Now, how do you wear something like this without over-doing it? Keep other accessories and patterns subtle. The best necklines for this are strapless, halter, scoop or even a plunging v-neck. These necklaces can be worn with dresses or tops, depending on the occasion.

If you don’t already own a bib necklace or can’t get enough of them, I’ve found a few options for under $60. Anthropologie has some great bib necklaces, but most are close to $200. However, they do have this colorful (and less dramatic) version for only $48. Kohl’s has an great vintage looking option on sale for $18.76! Another one is this navy piece from CUSP is a gorgeous statement for $55.

Most celebrities, such as Amy Adams, Eva Mendes and Jessica Alba, have opted to go the strapless dress route. Add some color to your favorite LBD, like this one from Forever 21 for $24.80, by pairing it with Anthropologie’s necklace. Give a casual outfit a bit more flare by wearing Kohl’s vintage bib with this strapless honey colored top from Charlotte Russe for $14.99. Darken up a light dress like New York & Co.’s heather gray strapless (only $29.97!) by adding CUSP’s navy blue piece.

A scoop neckline is another great option for the bib necklace, whether it’s cut low or high. Try a bright colored tee ($6.50 from Wet Seal) with Anthropologie’s necklace. A plunging neckline is a fabulous way to show off a large necklace. Try this cumin top from Victoria’s Secret on sale for only $9.99 with Kohl’s vintage version. The halter neckline allows you to cover the straps and neckline with a bib necklace a la Drew Barrymore. Doing this can take a plain, inexpensive halter to another level. Place the CUSP necklace on top of La Made’s pink halter on sale for $25 and you have a whole new look!
