Multiple celebrities have been spotted rocking the oxfords since late this sumer and the style is likely to continue through the fall. The main thing to consider when deciding what to wear with oxfords is the fact that you want to show them off.

Pairing oxfords with a simple top and jeans is quite common. Sienna Miller and Sarah Jessica Parker have both gone this route. To ensure your jeans don’t cover the shoes, go for skinny jeans ($34.50 from Old Navy), cropped jeans or a rolled up boyfriend style as seen on Rosario Dawson. To keep the top simple, wear your favorite solid color t-shirt ($34.50 from Ann Taylor) or a solid knit sweater (On sale at Victoria’s Secret for $49!). If you don’t want to look overly preppy, avoid heavy knits and v-necks.

To counteract the masculine feel of the oxfords, a short dress is another choice for celebrities. You could keep the style cohesive and go with a preppy jumper as seen on Sarah Silverman. Try the one below from Urban Outfitters for $48 available in 3 different colors. Pair them a casual dress like Emma Watson or something more for a night out a la Amber Valletta. I like this gray dress from Arden B. on sale for $39.99. It can be dressed up or down and also comes in black. For something dressier, Charlotte Russe has the flirty black dress below for only $26.99!

Celebs like Kate Bosworth and Kirsten Dunst have been wearing oxfords with rompers. Although this doesn’t scream fall fashion, 90210’s Shenae Grimes showed us how to make it work by adding tights and a menswear blazer. I love Urban Outfitter’s floral one for $48. Or try one in black, like Wet Seal’s for $27.50. If a romper isn’t your style, shorts may still be a good option and adding tights will make them wearable through fall. Selma Blair was seen wearing a pair of black cuffed shorts and a black t-shirt along with her oxfords. Forever 21 has an adorable gray short for only $19.80!

The boyfriend jean started to show up on the fashion scene toward the end of 2008. But I have a feeling they will continue to popular through spring 2009. Many celebrities, such as Katie Holmes, Selma Blair and Rachel Bilson, have been seen wearing boyfriend fit jeans. While designers like Paige Premium Denim and Current/Elliot seem to be the choice of these stars, they can cost close to $200.

If this is out of your price range or you simply do not spend that much on trend pieces, there is still hope. Retailers like Express, Ann Taylor Loft and Victoria’s Secret are selling these jeans for under $100. For even less dough, Delia’s, Alloy, American Eagle and JCPenney also have the boyfriend jean.

Wash: Boyfriend jeans are available in several washes. The main consideration with the wash you choose should be what is most flattering on you. Dark wash jeans are the most universally flattering, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to pull off a lighter pair. Express has boyfriend jeans in light and dark washes.

Wear & Tear: The boyfriend jean has varied levels of wear and tear available. The decision here is mostly a matter of taste. In my opinion, the older they look the better.

Cuffs: Although you can wear them without, these jeans are generally worn with cuffs. As opposed to a neat, folded cuff, the cuff of the boyfriend jean is usually rough and rolled. The cuff is usually done so it hits a little above the ankle.

The biggest issue for me when following the latest trends is what to wear with them. I frequently end up with a new article of clothing that sits in my closet for months because I have nothing to wear with it. Shirts: Boyfriend jeans are fairly casual, so a go-to top can also be casual. Your best option is a simple white tank top or t-shirt. But either way, your top should be fitted to show of your curves and balance the loose jeans. If you live in a colder climate, try

Belts: A belt is a great way to add style to a boyfriend jean and draw attention to your midsection (assuming you want that). Katie Holmes wore a light brown distressed leather belt with her boyfriend jeans.

Shoes: The most flattering shoes to wear with this outfit will be heels. They will help balance the masculinity of the jeans and also counteract the shortening effect of wearing a cuff on your jeans. That isn’t to say you can’t wear flats, like a simple ballet flat or low top Chuck Taylors.
